All The situation in the world today, and Subud's role? ( 1588 Reads )

The situation in the world today.

Hi, this is the first time that I have submitted anything on to any website, so please forgive any mistakes that I've made. Also I admit that I have recently started university and have therefore been absent from Latihan, and the Subud lope for a while. When I have been to group Latihan, I am often very aware of the fact that in the world at the moment we once again have a situation where Muslims and Christians are killing one another.

I realise that this is a very simplistic way of looking at the situation. There are many political and cultural elements at work. I am simply talking about the basic human element. I live in England, I guess you could define us as a Christian country (again very simplistic) in England there are many Muslim communities. Since September the 11th people's attitudes towards Muslims' has been changing here. Again this is because of a lack of knowledge, and human nature. The fact that Al Queda does not represent the Muslim community in general, but rather a minority of fanatics. Also the fact that our government does not reflect the view of a majority of people in Britain. But a negative feeling is growing up again between the two religions. Obviously those of us in Subud, are probably more aware not to make such quick judgements. Also we are an organisation that spreads past the boundaries of religion and culture and of course world politics. For me though there is just a pain in my heart that we are killing each other in the name of God on such a large scale once again. Like I said I have been out of the Subud lope a while and was wondering whether there have been any talks about Subud's role in this situation. Or whether there has been a special World Latihan for those who have or are suffering in this and for the situation overall. Madrid stood as a painfull reminder. Also as it is the proposed location for the World Congress next year?

I hope that my simplistic analysis of the situation has not offended anyone. And if there have been any Latihans or talks about this please let me know. If not (which I heard a rumour about) what do people think about doing something like this or at least just taking a moment of silence to mourn what is happening in Gods name, together as a brotherhood of all religions and cultures.

Cheers Rhyana
