Posted by IrinaBoersma
Sunday, December 28, 2003

Next summer an exciting youth gathering in preparation for
World Congress 2005 will be held in Poland.

The main aim is to have a gathering where:

1) Young people from the eastern part of Europe can meet the young ones from
the western part of Europe, a european get-together :)

2) We can do brainstorming with the young people in preparation for the WORLD
CONGRESS 2005 and find out:

a) what activities/workshops they want to do and would like to see at the WORLD CONGRESS, make a list of that we can give to the organising team of the Congress, to help and support them in facilitating these needs/demands.

b) find out what is important to the young people for Subud as an organisation
(/older members) to hear, and pass it on to the youth coordinators before the
congress.

The event will most likely take place near Olzstyn in the Masuria area in Poland from
26/7-04 to 02/08-04 (for pictures see www.lesne-wrota.pl but beware-the website is in polish)
It will be a great week of meeting new people, learning about new cultures
and HAVING FUN!

Everyone is welcome!!!!!!!

More information will be sent out closer to the event.

We are still working on it, and if anyone wants to help with organising
workshops, translation or just want to hear more about it, you can contact me
at irina_b@ofir.dk
We will need help with organising workshops and things like that, so if you have something exciting you want to teach others, please don't hesitate to email me!

We are also organising fundraising events to be able to fund the eastern
european youth, who don't have enough money to travel but want to come to the
gathering. We are planning for the first fundraising event to take place in London in January 2004.

BE THERE OR BE SQUARE

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Governor of Central Kalimantan and his wife oversee a foundation known as Yayasan Ibu which is dedicated to the welfare and support of under-privileged children in Central Kalimantan. I sit on the board of this foundation, which is the first of its kind outside Java. Between the 16-20 of December, Yayasan Ibu is holding a 6 day event in Palangkaraya with the theme “ Children and The Love of Peace “.

Five hundred under-privileged children between the ages of 4 and 13 from multi-religious and ethnic backgrounds from all over the province will be sponsored to come to Palangkaraya to participate in this event, which the Governor and Minister of Religion will open. In addition to the children, 100 adults who have be selected to become trainers will also participate. Ten experts or teachers in the methodology related to this program “ Loving Peace “ will come from Jakarta to teach the trainers. During the 6 day event the trainers will be instructed on how to effectively facilitate children's self-_expression related to “Loving Peace” by using programs of art, song, dance, acting, and discussion. It is intended that this program will become an informal part of the Central Kalimantan School Curriculum.

Containing a unique movement vocabulary performed by dancers trained in contemporary dance, ballet, improvisation, martial arts, gymnastics, acrobatics and yoga, their performances will not be strictly limited to a dance vocabulary, company members often possessing talents in other art forms such as music, multimedia, and writing, all of which are enthusiastically utilized.
