Ok well I have asked about film and tv favourites, now I am asking what sort of music do u all like lol! I need to know what albums are good to put on my ipod hehe. If you like mellow laid back music listen to Jack Johnson he's excellent! Of course Damien Rice!

I know there is a lot of music talent in subud, so don't be shy say anything, like what do people play, whether you are in a band or just your favourite music. Very Happy

I don't play anything anymore, last thing was the saxaphone, but no good at that. I do not have the determination and motivation to play anything. And now I don't seen to have any time lol. Wish I could sing but would not have the guts to stand up and do it lol Smile

Have we left our senses......

I thought we were humouring the girls above, now I am a bit lost. Smile

For the benefit of other users, what is the point of these lists, and would everybody like to share their music tastes, and more interestingly WHY they like what they like.

Love all round....
Harun.

P.S. I’ll start the ball rolling…

True to the sheer idiosyncracy of these posts… and to my slightly pretentious side:

My list:

Don Ellis, Dizzy Gillespie, David Bowie, The Jam, Chris Isaak, Claudio Monteverdi, Eva Cassidy, Dionne Warwick, Green Day, Ella Fitzgerald, Tracy Huang, Edith Piaf, Mandy Moore, The Stranglers, Mahmoud Ahmed,The Clash, Doris Day, Carol King, Michael Jackson, Dave Brubeck, George Michael, Pink, Carl Heinrich Graun, Charlie Haden, Paul Desmond, Queen, Zhang Ye, Cyndi Lauper, Stan Getz, Jessica Simpson, Carly Simon, David Gray, New Order, Antoine Dauvergne, Wyton Marsalis, Elastica, Diana Krall, Burt Bacharach, The Streets, Segun Bucknor, Blondie, Matthew Von Doran, Jesse Green, Gustav Mahler, Hot Chocolate, Sheila Escovedo, Astrud Gilberto, BLO, Chesney Hawks (just kidding!!), Tori Amos, Blur, Lou Christie, The Undertones, Delfonics, Claude Debussy, Roy Orbison, Nina Simone, Pulp, Bobby Womack, François Michel Duguet, Adam and The Ants, Gwen Stefani…

represents my taste in Music for the following reasons:

Lots of female singers with a full range of voices… Charming, energetic, cross-cultural and genuinely beautiful and full of feeling and inspiration to pass the time listening to, no matter where I am and what I am doing. With a handful of easy listening ones too.

Big Band Jazz Trumpeters and Singers… What more can one say they’re Big, they're bands and its Jazzzzz. Full of uplifiting (and some not so uplifting) sounds, rythmn, melody and buzz that tweaks your senses like no other music can.

Composers of Baroque and Classical aria, and classical in general. For a truly religious and secular treat… Spiritually touching, tugs on the heart strings, and helps one to realise that one way the Angels On High can be reached is via a truly inspired voice or a yearnful/empowering/ as well as grandiose selection of classical compositions.

Then there is the Punk and 70s, the decade of my birth. A truly magic period of music, socially revelatory and yet socially desperate too… Bands like the Clash or the Jam are just the way to pass a Saturday afternoon. Then there is the 70s funk and disco, what more can one want for a night on the dance floor, both to completely embarrass yourself, and for every one else with you loving it too. One big group sensation.

Oh and a helping of Brit-Pop that just so happened to be part of my teenage years....

Anybody else care to share their lists and why....
Roboba - Dec 11, 2005 - 04:55 PM
Post subject: why
I like the music that I buy and listen to because it makes me feel good. It stirs an emotion, it makes me feels happy or melancholic, it brings back memories, I like the lyrics and all other simple reasons like these. I don't like mechanical noise i.e. House Evil or Very Mad or violence inciting bull i.e. Twisted Evil gangster rap and the likes. I am also not especially fond of Muzak i.e. Doris Day, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra Crying or Very sad and the like. To me that is just serious dribble. To me it is just not enough if somebody has a good voice, if it doesn't have feeling then forget it! Laughing
