Just like a bad record, I repeat this is your site people. Its ultimate aim is to find out what Subud Internet users require, expect and effectively like to see on a Subud Members’ site. In order to achieve this we need feedback on design and construction. Hence this SubudLife Design forum.

So, what would you like to see that SubudLife doesn’t already have? There must be some function you think is missing and we could realistically add.

Are you happy with no entertainment facilities, beyond the writing, story, poetry facilities and the gallery etc?

What about games, competitions, etc – please specify.

Surely you have an idea for a forum, but have not come forwards with it!

Beyond this, in terms of Subud topical content, surely there is something you have wanted to ask but have been embarrassed or afraid to. What about voicing your opinion on something or presenting interesting and thought provoking articles. Interest Group/Forum postings get responses and people, even if they don’t respond, like to read them. Besides we have incentives and recognition measures for people who regularly post (decent and interesting ones).

On such a note let me inform you of ‘Post’ ranking. If you manage 1-5 Posts you’re just a Newbie. Hell come on!!!! At 5 you become a Jiwa Walker. Hey you’ve got some way to go yet. At 20 Posts you attain panache, flair and verve, and enter the realm of Jiwa Dancer. At 35 Posts you become a 7th Level Skirter. This is where you gain automatic favourable treatment and onsite perks (perks have yet to be decided). And finally 50 Posts and above, you become a Knight of the 7th Level, where we all revere your words and take note from your infinite wisdom, charm and sophistication. Obviously we have faith in your content.

Without drawing unnecessary attention, Marilyn the whizz, managed to become a Jiwa Walker on the day she registered. She has set a benchmark, which we all seem to flounder next to.

There are countless other things that will make SubudLife a really..... (think of your ultimate compliment) site, however, we leave that part up to you.

We await instruction and ideas. Wink

Very Happy Dear Harun K.

I just felt like being the first to respond to your message Cool . And I would like to say that this site is great. The only thing it needs is for some more people to use it. Everytime I log in I'm the only member online, eventhough there are 377 members Crying or Very sad. The facilities are great, like the chat, but it's not fun chatting with yourself! So thats leaves us here where we are thinking, what can we do about it? Well what about making some pr for this site on other subudsites. I know there's a link on Subud World News, but what about placing an add, to tell what the site is about and the purpose of it and things like that? Get people to recommend this site to their group or other subudpeople?
I hope this can inspire you, I'll do my best to make people check this page!

Yes PR. I have submitted a promotion/remark style article to numerous news sheets across the Subud World. These include amongst others: SubudVoice/SubudWorldNews/Subud Britian Bulletin/ SubudUSA Life etc etc. The article on SubudLife's front page, title: Subud Life and the Internet - is it. However, this article, all going well will be readable in the October Issue of the various news sheets.

I have to mention here that Valentine Narvey and Ramsey Oren of SubudCanada.org site put my article up within a day of my emailing them. Thank you guys!

However, I guess in the end it is a case of word of mouth, that will really spread it. Our main fear, probably out of paranoia, is that the site is a bit busy in layout terms (not content) and many of our less traversed Internet User Subudians find it a little daunting. However, apart from those that slip on the mouse button or struggle around the scroll bar, this site is just a case of practice or frequency of use.

I still don't believe we have all the functions and certainly interest group/forum's people want.

Thanks once again.

Harun.

Is it possible to have this helicopter game put up onsite. I guess there are issues surrounding copyright, but it might be worth a try to find out.

Post subject: Colour changing.....
How easy is it to change the background color from silver or blue? What about making a color coding system for content - articles and posts etc.

I fancy a bit more color myself. I don't mean this to detract from all the great work you guys have been doing!!

Hey Harun, how's your family? If you see any of your delinquent siblings, tell them hi for me...

I have an issue with the layout. When I first go to the sight, I see on the first page a nice long list of discussions/postings. But once I log on, they disappear. Could you make it so that the pages stay the same after I log in? Otherwise, the site isn't as nice if I log in...

Aside from that, i really like the site and am glad you're helping stew with it. He was about to go under hahaha...

Talk to you later, but only if you log in at 5-8am your time. I think that might be why it seems that no one is on at the same time - we are scattered all over the world, and keep different hours. C'est la vie...

Post subject: Hi Simon
The list you see when you first arrive at subudlife only exists on the home page, it is there whether you are logged in or not.

Click on the SubudLife logo to go to the home page.

I could build a new theme so it exists on every page but I think it would get annoying if it came up wherever you went in the site.

hope this answers your question.

I think there are many people that all go on at different times, thus never meeting. Maybe you could advertise on site a particular time for a 'chat meeting'. It could even be an opportunity for live forums, so that you can converse in real time until all persons are left content and at peace...what do u think? U might like to arrange different meeting times to converge with the different timezones...I am sure this could become a worthwhile exercise that adds an extra dimension to the site. Why don't u give it a trial run and see if it catches on in actual practice?! Stu Smile

Tell me Harun, do you get an additional prize if you make your 50th post on the same day you notice you are the number one gamer?

Very Happy

I have just been into 'Subud Crisis' and out again. On my return to stability I had this empowering vision, infact no, commandment if you like. Let me share some of it with you.

Before me lay a large regal oak door shrouded in a dense mist of wonderment and untold truths. I saw myself approaching, as I came closer a large shaft of light shone in my direction. It was a stirring experience for I was being transported in some involuntary stasis through the now ajar door. There before my bewildered being was a space of untold scale and scope. It stretched in all directions. I knew I was in some room or above some platform for there was a black and white flagstone floor. Some where further on from me was this magnificent grand table, its grandeur was overpowering. It now became clear that I was not alone in this vast scape. Surrounding the table before me were 10 beings of indescrible shape and proportions, they had a calming quality about them but in turn drew a respect and awe from me.

I hovered in my present position for a period of time, until one of the beings rose from the table and came to my side. It touched my shoulder and my experience of being in stasis ceased. Before I knew what was happening next the being transformed into what appeared to be a simple but dignified person, dressed in a pleasant but unassuming attire. Beginning to speak, it suddenly became apparent what was about to be said to me. I was being instructed, as I said before commanded.

It is now clear to me what I had received in my vision. I received that the Post Ranking should change.

That the 7th Level Knights are actually a heavenly order.

In order to become one of them one requires the utmost training and experience in the Heavenly Arts. To this end they deserve the utmost honour and correct association.

The Post Ranking is not 50 Posts for joining of the Heavenly order.

Part of the commandment is as follows:

1 Post: Newbie

5 Posts: Jiwa Walker

15 Posts: Jiwa Dancer

30 Posts: Directed Jiwa

50 Posts: A long way to the 7th Level

70 Posts: Order of the Training Jiwa

90 Posts: Divinely Inspired

120 Posts: 7th Level Skirter

150 Posts: Knight and Server of the 7th Level

This board is nice, but are there any forums that deal with the world... and our reaction to it? I've been in Subud for 40 years and can certainly talk about experiences.. but I find that most Subud members seem taciturn about world events. I know surrender etc.. but what do you do after that .. LOL.

Do we all really live up to the comment made at a bookshop on "spiritual subjects" which I visited recently.

I asked for Subud books, and got ""They don't write much, the just DO IT!"

Well - do we? (you?)

Just a little note- but who else is really needing to discuss how relevant or useful Subud is to them or those aroud them?

Post subject: the latihan's not much but I like the organization
Only joking.

I'm been in subud nearly 30 years now and I'm not sure if I've made any progress other than what the march of time would produce. For instance, I like hearing Spanish spoken in films etc, but I still can't read the Spanish on Subud web sites. What kind of progress is that?
What? You have to use your will...? Oh.

I was thinking a chat room for those online? Is there one set up? So peeps can get to know each other better. And has an advert been placed in the subud world magazine to advertise the subudlife website?

Amber Question
HarunKennedy - Nov 15, 2005 - 07:29 PM
Post subject: IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF WORD OF MOUTH
Dearest Amber, avid regular users, frequenters, free riders, melancholic misfits, intellectually challenged bullshiters, surfers, scroll bar novices, luddites, Subud List Server arses, Subud News junkies, directionless Subud Youth, SICA unfulfilled folk, not very fussed passers on through, and everybody else that isn’t one of the above....

...have you noticed:

(1) How one can create any such fancy article one can dream up or may want to communicate something to others, such is possible in the themed articles section. Go Submit News now.

http://subudlife.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Submit_News&file=index

(2) How one can Chat with anybody, anytime, by going to the top left had corner of Subud Life and selecting the orange coloured “Join the Chat”.

(3) Any Youth and other members who have been disaffected by local helpers, or just don’t want to share something in person? If this could be you, try the totally confidential “Ask the Helpers” function to the right hand side of the front page and wait for a private message on Subud Life.

(4) How SubudLife is capable of hosting any forum for any interest group in Subud. It can provide useful services' to your interest group whether related to SDI, SESI, SICA, SIHA, SYIA, or to world, zonal, national, regional or, or just a plain good old group level body. It can be as easy and as useful as a regular email and nearly as enjoyable as seeing each other in person.

http://subudlife.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=PNphpBB2&file=index

(5) How your Art/Design Work is under-publicised or you have a portfolio of your work yearning for attractive and visually impressive online galleries; have you got that World Shakingly good photo that we all must see; or short films that would make David Lynch look conventional... well go upload it and whatever else in the appropriate Gallery.

http://subudlife.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index

(6) How you can tell others of a date for an event or gathering in the Calendar.

http://subudlife.com/index.php?module=PostCalendar&func=submit

(7) The ultimate links database with the potential to tell members about every known website, your business, your activity or a person in the Subud world.

http://subudlife.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=CmodsWebLinks&file=index

Having read this far, you have made yourself morally bound to tell 2 other people about Subud Life. Get them to come online and together in marvelous unity we can resolve the No 1 Subudian issue, Subud Communication.

To quote myself from yester year Confused : “In essence Subud Life is your and every Subud members site. It has the potential to become a great Subud interface capable of facilitating interaction between Subud members' no matter what their interest. Of course this is only theory, unless you the user contributes, actively participates and...”

Yours
Harun.

N.B. To join the heavenly order of The Knights and Servers of the 7th Level one has to now have notched up 200 posts.

Hello Harun

Great web site and I seem to fit at various times all them that you addresses above apart from "directionless Subud Youth".

I will try to take you up on your suggestions but it will be hard to get 2 new users though since you are all so young here and I nearly only know older people than find computer frightening or not a very spiritual activity. Very Happy

Sorry, for necro this old thread. Embarassed

I assure you there are plenty of 'elder folk' or a diverse set of ages that use Subud Life. The average age is probably 36.4 Very Happy

Anyways Subud Life has come a long way since I first posted the first post in this thread 4 years back now - with a biggest thanks due to Stewart as webmaster. Since Esaias has come along with Subud Radio, the sites had a new leash of life.

A new simpler front page is very soon in the offing.....

Send my love to Birmingham.
Harun.

P.S. I've had a very clear receiving during Ramadan this year that one needs 350 posts not 200 to join the Knights of the 7th Level. Wink

Hi Harun and all,

I think Stu's idea of a scheduled meeting time for chat is a good one. We could also decide on chat themes maybe for a once a week session.

Hello again Harun,

I cannot for the life of me find out how to get back to the front page after log-in. It doesn't say 'Home' anywhere at the top. I wanted to find the 'Ask a Helper' button you spoke of to offer my services. On the other hand I might be suffering from post Ramadan syndrome.

Eid Mubarak everyone!

Post subject: Press the Subud Symbol to get back to the frontpage....
Hello Yafiah

The Subud Symbol is the Homepage link... The site is a bit in transition at the moment, and we should have a clearer frontpage very soon. Rolling Eyes

The Ask a Helper Function is back up... a little dormant....

The Chat function is due to be open as one comes onto site....

Watch this space and all will become clearer.......

Cheerio
