I liked ur poems - and thought u might like this one too : )

Open-thing

I looked at me
myself
and broke my head
I was not yet alive
But dreamed instead

broken
tossing
found no comfort
bitter brain
and pickled heart too sore

woken in a daze
amazedly
unwilling yet
unwilling to be brave

then I tried
and cursed my failing flesh
I hid myself
I tried to make it stop

The little bubbles found me
And crawled under my skin,
as noiseless air

They ripped and poked and prodded all the way
They kissed and bit
Unearthed all that was there

A shell, I felt, I was a Petri dish
I tried and tried to peacefully submit

Beyond that hope
I couldn’t give much more

And hated every part of me that failed

but in me
there
below the beaten shell
beyond the pain of outer-wringing hell
I felt this trickle down the slope inside
Down to a place – that tried so hard to hide
I felt it then
I felt some truth in there
And felt so joyous and at once – so scared
To hide the precious thing and never tell
Or scream it from the roof tops
Ding Dong Dell

The bells are ringing
Full and loud and clear
This is my temple
I am welcome here

THE FISH’S DREAM

Lost and alone in a land of stone,
By dunes I found that a fool had drowned.
No sound was heard as it wept each word,
“Be gone from here if my tears you fear!
Rays of the Sun in a flood will run
With playful love from the plane above!”

Too late did I wait to save my fate,
For a wave of woes in laughter rose.
From the shaded soul one breath I stole,
Borrowed life inside to climb the tide;
The ghost in my wake where sorrows break;
Then to walk once more beyond the shore.

A BIRD IN THE WORLD OF THE SOUL

Like a prayer behind this world, an eager bird soars
Around the shoreline, out of sight, beyond the mind.
On the damp sea-breeze, its flight is full of longing
With sureness of purpose and courage in every thrust.

A mighty tree beckons to shelter this whirling spirit.
Winds that strain tired wings wrestle wooden sinews too,
Whose buried roots endure turmoil, sustaining the beach.
“Come, cousin, for your journey sanctifies my burden.”

The bird sings while it speeds above the surf’s chaos,
“Inside I’m not alone, for you welcome me as a lover,
And when I reach that place of rest within you,
We’ll both reshape the contours we discover.”

The brave one gains its haven among the ancient limbs
Between form and formlessness, beside the ocean’s edge,
Life harbouring life midst the wild tempest of creation.
Through stormy clouds, the sun smiles on these children.

A SHADOW’S COURTSHIP

Who suffers without pain, feigning fault and blame?
Who succeeds without pride, hiding guilt and shame?
Who scorns within laughter, then mourns ever after?
Moving in a moonbeam, loving in a dream,
I follow your rhyme scheme and swallow a scream -
This mood is the doom of a psyche-filled life-cycle.

Will I live without faith, really praying in fake?
Will I die without fear, merely querying fate?
Will, inner wraith, without you there’s a way!
As I move to surrend’, upon love to ascend,
More chance to attend morning’s dance at the end -
When rainbows transcend ego’s limelight nighttime.

TO BE FOUND

I seek, therefore I am.
I look for someone else.
Therefore they are,
And I depend on them.

They are aware indeed
Of somebody they seek,
Not knowing who,
Just as a shape they need.

Oneself can never fill
That void that parts the whole,
Which once was shunned
In shaping each one’s will.

We turn and search again,
But cannot penetrate
The mirror’s face:
Duality doth reign.

To be depends on One
Whose formfulness surrounds,
Yet still I seek,
Self-yielding to become.

For seekers may discover,
By making space to share,
Their wholeness, lost,
Exists within each other.

ECLIPSE OF A KISS

In the Sun, a sword of steel was forged.
It fell into the desert and lay buried under the dunes.
Sometimes it leaped up toward the Sun,
Only to be smothered again by the dunes -
* and few eyes pass by in the desert.
The sand began wearing it away,
But the Sun sent a storm that shifted the dunes,
* and soon the sword lay on rocks in the sunlight.
A breeze blew round, making it vibrate, and start to sing.

In the Moon, a scarf of silk was woven.
It fell into the ocean and lay tossed upon the waves.
Sometimes it cried out toward the Moon,
Only to be drowned again by the waves -
* and few ears pass by in the ocean.
The water began wearing it away,
But the Moon sent a tide that shifted the waves,
* and soon the scarf lay on rocks in the moonlight.
A wind blew round, making it flutter, and start to dance.

By day, one sang aloud in the breeze.
By night, one danced forward on the wind.
At last, both the Sun and the Moon passed by.
The scarf cried out as the sword leaped up –
* and in harmony they disappeared.
The flight of two birds, circling toward Heaven,
Proclaimed music formed in the airs of this world,
Which are sometimes fierce like a sword of steel
* and sometimes tender like a scarf of silk.

DESIGNER DESIRE

So many things inspire human beings,
But I’m not sure which of them moves me.
Bliss, beauty, wisdom; pain, fear, despair?
Faith, hope, charity; hatred, greed, jealousy?
Justice, prudence, humility; guilt, power, pride?
Love for a partner, family, humanity; spirituality?
Some things make us laugh - bizarre ideals like that!
What a joke I make of passion if I seriously aspire
To attract divine favour for unselfish behaviour;
Conspiring an improvement for cosmic approval!
Of course such daydreams eventually expire;
Real inspiration concerns who, not what.
Catching movement within, I respire!

SUCH LOVE

Though you think my ways are self-destructive,
Though I find your company sometimes oppressive,
Though we seldom bring ourselves to work together,
Though our beliefs and attitudes are worlds apart,
Though I see right through your patronising words,
Though you fail to appreciate me all the more,
I love you none the less,
Though you may be none the better for it.

HIDDEN AGENDA

Applause for the champ
Who chooses to lose;
Poor victim of fate,
Competing but failing,
Falling just short,
So tragically flawed -
Oh what glorious art!

Defeat taken gladly!
This game of bad luck
Is oddly fulfilling;
Proof one is willing,
And sympathy winning
Without any pressure,
Yet smugness within.

No shame being beaten!
Many lives are spent
Avoiding achievement,
Opportunities dropping,
Though it is a paradox
To succeed at flopping;
Self is a sly opponent.

UNBURNT - UNBUILT

Again the earth is wet enough to breathe,
And at the wheel it’s waiting to be thrown,
But who turns out the ware when hands believe
That no artistic effort can atone
For common clay? More glory carving stone!

The chisels of this masterpiece achieve
A kiln that’s empty, wasting sacred fires.
Our potter hopes the shortfall to reprieve
With one timeless gem, yet the bridge requires
Bricks ready baked in sacrificial pyres!

By dampened flames, attendant angels grieve
The unshaped soul now stranded and perplexed.
No way to cross, that heaven may receive,
’Til extending oneself as Life connects
Unto otherness. Thus, lead on the next!

LIVE THEATRE

In tales taking heart, let's be entertained,
For the script I'm following brings dismay.
I can't improvise; my acting's constrained;
So show me a play. Transport us away
From disbelief that gloomily smothers!
Self-concerned characters soon lose the plot,
But an audience is safe - scenes it has got
Whose dramas distract with dreams of others!
Star roles excite and charm on the surface,
Yet deep and meaningful themes are at stake.
Cast on the stage, I move with new purpose;
To support each part for the story's sake!
Putting faith, if I dare, in art that's real,
The performance we share, this heart may heal.

BREEZE DEEP

Between the earth and clouds (emotion stirring shrouds),
Rage lightning duels and thunder that lead to weeping rain;
Recycling mundane feelings, endless seasons wax and wane.
Between the clouds and earth, I yearn for subtler things
Than a fragrance of wine or the phase its tasting brings.

Assurance ebbs with every tide
Of breath to cast these dreams ashore,
Till senselessly I’m floating off
From shallow self in search of more.

Between the clouds and stars (with theories of Mars),
While day and night review such weird celestial stories,
The Sun and Moon synchronise their chain of circling glories.
Between the stars and clouds, I bathe in driest thought,
With orbiting ideas whose tangents lead to nought.

Seductive dance entrancing me,
I contemplate its cosmic jewels,
And drown in stillness stupidly
When further out life’s current cools.

Between the womb and grave (this rhythmic standing wave),
There circulates much air for renewal and exchange
Of harmonies we share in our vibrant human range.
Between the seas of galaxies, I’m led by gusts of love -
The blowing of Compassion through World and realms above!

Like water summoned by the wind
To lend itself and nourish Earth,
I turn back from the dazzling void
To learn and dedicate my worth.

A POSTMODERN APOSTASY

“Futility rules,” said the devil with a smile,
“It’s the verdict of the trial; no devotion is worthwhile.
The future lies defiled, hostile, sterile,
And fertile is the flower of a fool’s delusion.
Fidelity is out of style, facile, fragile,
While virtues, reviled, are filed into exclusion.”

“Of your words, a few are true,” the angel then refuted,
“As fortitude dissolves and commitment is diluted,
But fulfilment is still viable when values are recruited
To humanity’s role upon the living spiral.
The fruits of faithful effort are infinitely suited,
For divinity rules whom hope and love reconcile.”
