Has anyone read the John Bennett book, 'Concerning Subud', and if so, can you please share your opinion of it? Thank you - Mike

hiya mike

Yeah I read "Concerning Subud" thinking it was a seminal book about Subud, but after reading it I
can see that it is not really a mature reflection of Subud...Written in '58? by Bennett whose background was very strongly Gurdjieffian, having been opened probably less then two years, you see lots of stuff that was from him, not so much about the Latihan.
However, JGB is a hero of mine and I respect him deeply. The best book about the Latihan by him is in my opinion just the passages from his autobiograpy that concern Subud. He also did 'Christian Mysticism and Subud' which is interesting, sometimes captivating, but too heady.

Bapak apparently said of Bennett: 'His mind rules his life in this world... Never mind, when he dies his soul will be lead by his Latihan to the world of real humans'
