In reference to the posts under the topic Subud Eyes.

....but in that case it is wrong to close your eyes, because these are REAL things happening, and before you can change these terrible things, you have to be aware of them to be able to change them. And even though it may harm you a bit spiritually, sometimes you may have to make a sacrifice, to be able to change the world into a better place....

I agree with such sentiment presented by Irina.

The nature of this forum is Human Culture and we always have to be aware that one person's culture and sense of good and bad - is relative in such a way. The content of one film or programme could be bad and that of another healthy or useful and visa a versa. So one need always bear this in mind. Further to this, what are we all talking about, a crazy film like ‘Crash’ and its indulgence in sexual highs from violent carnage. Are we talking about Poltegeist or another film that toys with the lower forces. Or are we talking about a documentary, or an item in the news. These latter examples are often glorified and selectively sensationalised but none the less are from a reality of truth. In such a way both Moonlight and Irina capture this.

Whilst culture maybe relative, as was pointed out by Moonlight there is a universal reality of the latihan - as in God's Will. Moral and Spiritual absolutes. In such way, the content and force of something cannot be seen as relative. Understanding some things actual nature whether good or bad, productive or counterproductive, is something God Will bestow upon us in the form of receiving or knowledge if and when it is right.

Whilst I am not fully versed in what Bapaks receiving are here, my understanding of it all is that we are all on very different paths. We all come with very different capacities to harness great evil and at the same time lower forces. I mean in the sense of Nafsu. Nafsu or dynamism, is a force for change, a force when harnessed by a stronger force(s) of ‘Good’ can be utilised to do God’s Will. This is of course not an argument for doing great evil in God’s name - of course not. Many individuals without knowing it are either vulnerable and may need to be weary of what they take in or see, and so on. However, others have the capacity and even the job to be aware of things like this. Sure not actively seeking out sick, depraved or just 'bad' realities, but more a case of learning and becoming aware of in the right amount, in order to resolve these bad things when God may utilise them in time.

In the end, we all through our latihan can be islands of quiet. Islands of strength and purity in an ocean of disquiet, despondency and depravity.

I also, am not sure how much the latihan is like a blank cheque. I mean in the sense of doing one's latihan dilegently and one will be cleansed of all your 'bad' actions and what you take on - this is not necessarily the case. Its actually about being careful and weary. What is the Islamic phrase? To the effect - tying up ones camel when you take it to the water to drink or something like that.

I reckon both posters to the Subud Eyes topic in this forum are right.
