Subud life and the Internet

The Internet is a tool that more and more people are gaining access to. In a very short while it will be as important as the telephone has been for the last 20 or 30 years. The Internet is a tool that one can communicate virtually anything over. In such a way it can be a means of communication, for Subud members and by way of example for non-Subud members, to see what Subud is doing all around the world.
There are numerous sites created by Subud....

....These include country sites in Subud Australia, Subud Canada, Subud Britain, Subud Germany, Subud Indonesia, Subud Nederlands, Subud Spain, Subud Ukraine and Subud USA etc (apologies to everybody else); International sites include, SubudWorldNews.com, SubudLife.com, SubudVoice.net and Subud.Web.net to name but a few. Presently there is a WSC "Subud Internet Technologies" working group that was initially set up after Bali World Congress, and has been active since Big Congress (in Britain) in August. It has the long-term aim of creating three core sites: Subud.org the official site for non-Subud members so as to explain what Subud is about and be a first point of call. Another site which is a delicate matter yet to be resolved, which will be a sort of showcase in which all the wings can have a home, and communicate their projects, their services and the like. And Subud.net, which will become the Subud members site.
Currently most of the sites in Subud are by individual members who are all doing their own thing, all of which is commendable and inspiring. Yet in many ways its too fragmented and there is a lack of collaboration. We need to form a solid trust in each other, a sense that we are not creating sites that reflect our image of how things are, or should be in Subud, but sites that embrace all Subud members and reflect them in all their entirety. There is a lot going on with regard to the Internet, at the moment there is a lack of cohesion and a clear aim for Subud and the Internet. To this end we have SubudLife.com. I am part of this site because I see it as vehicle for all encompassing communication between members. At the moment, three Subud members administer it. We dont want SubudLife to be a reflection of ourselves but an interface for all members.
In essence SubudLife is your and every Subud members site. It has the potential to become a great Subud interface capable of facilitating interaction between Subud members' no matter what their interest. Of course this is only theory, unless you the user contributes, actively participates and inspiringly comments on whatever you see before you at SubudLife.com
The present state of SubudLife (as fantastic as it is) is of course only in its infancy, and has shown classic teething problems. We are working on it. The access and user friendly issues are being resolved, aesthetic qualities are being improved, the present vehicles for interaction - such as Forums - are being enhanced, and new highly interactive fun games, competitions etc are in store as well.
SubudLife is capable of hosting any forum for any interest group in Subud. It can provide useful services' to your interest group whether related to SDI, SESI, SICA, SIHA, SYIA, or to world, zonal, national or regional level bodies, or just a plain good old group. It will be as easy and as useful as a regular email and nearly as enjoyable as seeing each other in person.
What we ask of you is that you really take ownership of SubudLife you both dream and act upon your hopes and expectations for Subud. Use this site to voice concerns, present your ideas, outline your visions no matter what they might be.
If all the above seems abstract or of minimal interest, and all you fancy doing is catching up with people you haven't seen since X, Y or Z congress or gathering SubudLife is for you too. The more you visit, the more people will know where to come. On this note we at present have the Virtual Latihan Hall and Subud Virtual Office which are chat come instant communication tools, we are set to combine the two making them all the more user friendly, and with enhanced capabilities. Aside from these, please don't just be part of the forums, or just chat on SubudLife. One can post calendar dates, or post a picture of yourself, write a poem, slag off your lovely siblings, or present the next masterpiece in whatever form.
In terms of the layout and tools available, we genuinely seek constructive criticisms. Please join in with the SubudLife Design forum.
