YES QUEST CENTRAL AUSTRALIA

2 1/2 weeks in July/August 2003

Are you ready to venture into the ancient desert of Central Australia and into your own self?
The YES Quest is a group experience of adventure, challenge and fun to develop skills, explore potential and formulate your personal life plan.

What is the YES Quest:
The YES Quest is an ongoing program for young people. It is coordinated and developed by a dedicated group of Subud members. It's aim is to provide young people with an opportunity to clarify their future goals, develop key life skills and be fully supported in the process. The first YES Quest took place in 2001 in Kalimantan after the Bali World Congress and has become a benchmark experience in the lives of those who took part.
Presently through the support of the Guerrand Hermes Foundation the YES Quest program is being offered for Subud members, with non Subud programs being developed for the future. The YES Quest team are also currently developing a range of shorter programs.

The upcoming Desert YES Quest in Central Australia is the full adventure Yes Quest program.

When and where?
The Desert YES Quest will take place between Alice Springs and Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Central Australia. This is an area of great beauty and power and lies in a world heritage environment. Aboriginal life, lore and customs are very strong in this region. The YES Quest will run over two and a half weeks in July - August 2003. (planning is still in progress, so the exact itinerary is not yet available.)

The Quest
The YES Quest takes the form of an inner and an outer journey.

The outer journey will involve travelling to Central Australia to join 15 - 20 other young Subud members from around the world. A facility amidst the desert landscapes and intense night skies of Central Australia will form the base camp for your quest. Here, as a team, and individually, you will be set a series of challenging projects to develop over the period of the Quest. The projects will be designed to give you a huge variety of experiences enabling you to explore your interests and develop essential life skills. These projects will take you trekking out in the desert and to share with the local Aboriginal people. Your YES Quest journey will return back to the base camp to continue the inner journey.

The inner journey will be an exploration of each person's talents, qualities and ambitions. Working with each other and with expert advisors, you will have the opportunity to develop a life project to be implemented in the following 12 months. This life project may involve planning travel, work experience, a study plan, an enterprise or any other project of real importance to you. The opened members of the Quest will also have the opportunity of doing latihan and personal testing.

The Quest will culminate in a dynamic nightlong personal celebration ceremony.

Who can take part?
We are looking for mature and committed young people with a spirit of adventure. In some ways you will be pioneering the Yes Quest desert experience, so we are looking for people who are prepared to collaborate fully in the development of the desert program. Applicants will have preferably left secondary school at the time of the Quest.

Whilst the Quest will have a structured program and itinerary, all participants will be encouraged to take ownership of the experience and to explore and develop together the content of the Quest.

This is your Quest ! Any outcomes will be the result of your personal journey and that of your team, rather than anything imposed by a leader.
